Annual Awards Ceremony & Holiday Gathering at South Shore Craft Brewery

Annual gathering of the Handgrenades Homebrew & Craft Beer Club to celebrate the past year in awards, food and well crafted beverages. During this holiday meeting/party, we’ll have our club recognition’s, announcement of the 2021 Last Brew Standing Champion, Preview of early 2022 Events and Homebrew Competition, induction of new club board members and White Elephant Gift Exchange for any participating club members. 2022 Memberships will be available! (It’s potluck, so Bring a dish to share!)
 
Our meetings are open to anyone 21 and over with interest in craft beer, mead, cider and especially homebrewing. All COVID protocol for the host venue and local regulations must be followed. Plan your travels accordingly–the host venue is walking distance from the Oceanside LIRR

Blue Point Cask Ales Festival | November 6th, 2021

Cask Fest makes a triumphant return, with live music, food, and over 50 participating breweries.

We’re excited to be back at this awesome event hosted by our friends at Blue Point! Members of the club will be pouring from a dozen cask ales, along with other homebrew clubs and professional breweries.

November Club Meeting at Barrier Brewing Co!

Join Us on Tuesday, November 16th for our next club meeting at Barrier Brewing Co! (3001 New St A2, Oceanside, NY 11572).

We’ll be collecting bottles of homebrew for donation to the Turkeys Against Cancer event, in partnership with the Barbeque Brethren and in benefit of the Babylon Breast Cancer Coalition.

The 2022 Executive Board Elections will also be taking place. Nominations will be accepted through the start of the meeting.

As always, we will have our homebrew feedback table for anyone willing to share and the Club Raffle will be sure to have some tasty treats. Donations are always appreciated. Our meetings are open on anyone 21 and over, with interest in craft beer, cider, mead—whether you homebrew or just love a good pour, come on down, bring a friend. All host and local regulations must be followed by all attendees.

Beer, Brunch and Birds Fundraiser at The Black Sheep Ale House | November 14th, 2021

October Club Meeting at Lost Farmer Brewing Co!

Let’s Get LOST! Our next club meeting will be held on Tuesday, October 19th, at Lost Farmer Brewing Co. in Mineola, NY. (63-A East 2nd Street, Mineola, NY 11501). With Indoor and outdoor seating, no need to worry about max headroom. There’s plenty of Lost Farmer brews and local guest taps, a popcorn machine and the ‘Dr. Feelgood’-esque time-to-wear-your-sunglasses-at-night retro vibes that you can get lost in.
 
We’ll be celebrating the three finalists that had the right stuff to advance in the 2021 Last Brewer Standing, discussing club happenings, and accepting nominations for the 2022 HHCBC Board. Come on down, kick off your Sunday shoes, check out the brew system and bring your questions for the Lost Farmer Brewing Co crew.
 
We will have our homebrew feedback table for anyone with samples (of BEER) in your fanny-packs or any rad questions. The Club Raffle will be sure to have some tasty treats. Donations are always appreciated.

Whales, Ales & Salty Tales @ Cold Spring Harbor | October 2nd, 2021

Back to festivals! Finally!

The club will be participating once again for the long-delayed Whales, Ales & Salty Tales fundraiser for the Whaling Museum & Education Center of Cold Spring Harbor. A wonderful place to visit and get a view of Long Island seafaring and whaling history. 

Help support museum community programming while you sample unique beers, ales, ciders and meads crafted at local Long Island breweries!

Sample tastings from over a dozen local brewers

Sing along to live sea shanties with Stuart Markus

Tour the museum exhibits and gallery

Take part in hourly Whale Tales, which explore the epic whaling story

Stop by the workshop to hear Ale Tales from local professional and amateur brewers

The first 100 registrants will receive a commemorative tasting cup to keep.

Food for purchase from Island Empanada, an empanada food truck that offers Latin American food

NOTE Valid ID for proof of 21+ and proof of completed Covid-19 vaccination required for entry. Masks should be worn inside the museum, but are not required in the beer tent outside.

September Club Meeting at The Black Sheep Ale House

Join us on Tuesday, September 21st for our next club meeting at The Black Sheep Ale House (78 2nd Street, Mineola, NY 11501). We’ll be reviewing upcoming events, sampling seasonal beer and sharing a pint for the 7th Anniversary of HHCBC.
 
Entries for the Last Brewer Standing Semi-Final are due. For anyone with homebrew to share, the feedback table will be open. Raffle donations are much appreciated!
 
Our meetings are open to anyone 21 and over with interest in craft beverages, beer, mead, cider and homebrew. Whether you’re interested in learning to brew or you’ve brewed for a while, all are welcome.
 
*Due to host venue guidelines, attendees must have proof of vaccination to attend. The meeting will be outdoors, pending any unexpected weather.

August Club Meeting at WA Meadwerks

Join Us  Tuesday, August 17th, 7:30PM at @wameadwerks for our next club meeting.
 
We’ll be celebrating John DiSpirito’s Mead Challenge Victory from this past weekend and the club’s overall win of the Inaugural Mead Sheild of AssLIHC from the Long Island Tri-Club Mead Challenge. The Shield and Mead Trophy will be on display.
 
Special Guest Speaker will be Andrew Luberto, BJCP Northeast Representative, Grand Master II Judge, Advanced Cicerone, and an all-around awesome person.
 
Our meetings are open to anyone 21 and over interested in craft beverages, homebrew beer, cider and MEAD. All attendees must adhere to the host venue’s rules.
 
WA Meadwerks is located at 26 W. Hoffman Ave., Lindenhurst, NY, across from the Lindenhurst LIRR Station.

July Club Meeting at Garvies Point Brewery

The next meeting with be on Tuesday, July 20th at Garvies Point Brewery [1 Garvies Point Rd, Glen Cove, NY 11542]
This meeting will start slightly earlier than usual >  7pm-9pm.
  • Bottles are due for the ‘Christmas in July’ bottle share. There is still room to participate if you have homebrew ready!
  • Winners of the Summer Club Competition will be announced. 
  • If anyone has updates or samples to share for the 45 Challenge, or any homebrew, we’ll have the feedback table open at the beginning of the meeting.
  • The raffle table will be open. Donations are welcome. We’ll have some swag and beer up for grabs.
  • Our meeting are open to anyone 21 and over with interest in homebrew beer, mead, cider or general interest in craft beverages. Membership is not required to attend, although it comes with awesome perks!
