November Club Meeting at BrewSA

Join us on Tuesday, November 19th as we return to BrewSA in Freeport, NY! Meetings are free to attend and open to anyone 21 and over interested in craft beer, cider, mead. We’ll be collecting entries for the HHCBC Club Competition from any current charter members seeking some bragging rights and ribbons. The elections for the 2020 Club Executive Board will be taking place. In addition, we’ll be having a discussion on specialty grain while we sample BrewSA Beers brewed by club co-founder and BrewSA Head Brewer, Peter Tripp.

Brew for a Cure

Saturday, November 2nd, 2019…

Several of our members will be headed out to The Well, in Brooklyn, alongside our friends from other amazing homebrew clubs in the NY Area (on Learn to Homebrew Day) for a wonderful cause—“Brew for a Cure is a Charity Homebrew Competition that celebrates craft beer for a good cause. The event showcases some of the finest homebrewers that the Tri-State area has to offer as well as local breweries and business who sponsor by donating beer samples, raffle prizes, or gear… All proceeds will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.”

Great Beer Expo

Join Us, as members of the Brigade will be sampling beer and cider as The Long Island Great Beer Expo returns to NYCB LIVE on Saturday, November 2, 2019. Fall’s best beer fest will also showcase more than 60 local, national, and international breweries offering more than 100 beers for sampling.

We’ll be attending both sessions, so stop on by and ask us about learning to Homebrew—-November 2nd is also Learn to Homebrew Day. Grab a ‘How to Brew’ Poster and sign up for information on future classes and meetings with the club!

Punktoberfest at Great South Bay Brewery!

The Brigade will be participating at Great South Bay Brewery’s 2019 Punktöberfest on Saturday, October 19th! Combining Beers, Brats, and Punk Rock! Celebrating the best of fall beers and great music. Local breweries will be pouring their seasonal best, local punk bands, The Samurai Pizza Cats, Flak Jacket, Dookie!, Adam’s Atoms and The Shipwrecks will be performing live, and local food trucks will be serving their take on Oktoberfest style eats!

The Club will be sampling seasonal beer and cider and brewers will be on hand to answer any questions about homebrewing! Sample 2019 GABF Entrant, Triple D’s: Deep Dark Dunkel, in the taproom–brewed by GSB in collaboration with club member, Michael Gallagher!

October Club Meeting at Effin Beauty w/ Pilsner Urquell

Join us on Tuesday, October 15th from 7:30 PM – 10:00 PM, at Effin Beauty [2562 Sunrise Hwy, Bellmore, NY 11710] as we host our October Club Meeting! In addition to the delicious food and beer menu at Effin, we’ll have a special guest speaker from the legendary Pilsner Urquell Brewery. (And perhaps a special surprise sampling of the Pils directly from Pilzn).

We’ll have a discussion on all that is Pilsner, from history to commercial examples to homebrew recipes and methods of lagering as our educational portion of the meeting.

Entries will be due for the six remaining homebrewers in the 2019 Last Brewer Standing competition. This is the Knockout Round, with only three advancing to December’s Championship Finale.

Our meetings are open to anyone 21 and over, interested in homebrew or craft beer, cider and mead, so bring a friend! For those with homebrew to share, the BJCP Feedback Table will be open for discussion at 7:15 PM.

Raffle Prizes are always welcome; We’ll be sure to have some great beer-related raffle prizes up for grabs.

6th Annual Taps and Talons

HHCBC will once again be participating in one of the best events of the year…TAPS AND TALONS! Sweetbriar Nature Center in Smithtown is hosting their 6th annual Taps & Talons Craft Beer Tasting Event. The fundraiser is scheduled for Sunday September 22, 2019 from 2-6pm. Members of The Brigade will join up with Local craft breweries in sharing some sample brew. This amazing event features live music and wildlife demonstrations. Tickets can be purchased directly at Sweetbriar Nature Center; $35 per person/$20 for designated drivers. Raffles and food are for purchase. All proceeds will go towards helping the center in their mission to educate the public about native wildlife and rehabilitation. This event is 21 and over; photo ID required.

September Club Meeting at South Shore Craft Brewery

Join us on Tuesday, September 17th, from 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM, as we visit South Shore Craft Brewery [3505 Hampton Road, Oceanside, NY]. Club Legends, Nick & Hugh are hosting this special private event, showcasing their journey toward owning their own 7bbl brewery on the South Shore of Nassau County. The Brewery has been featured at craft beer festivals around Long Island with high quality brews for all to enjoy. This Farm Brewery is planning it’s grand opening later this year but the doors will be open to HHCBC for the evening with the brewers.

Schnitz & Gigglez Food Truck will be available starting around 6PM and through the meeting for dinner!

The usual BJCP Feedback table will be Open at 7:15 pm; Raffle items are always welcome! Our meetings are open to anyone 21 and over, interested in craft beer, cider, mead as a brewer or aficionado, so bring a friend!
